Reply to customer enquiries on WeChat professionally — even if your written Chinese is rusty

Go to claude.ai and paste this prompt:
- 3
PROMPT: 'A customer sent me this WeChat message: [paste their message]. Please write a professional, warm reply in Chinese. Context: I run a [business type] in Burnaby BC. The customer is asking about [briefly describe what they want]. Keep the reply polite, friendly, and under 100 characters if possible. Match the style they used — if they wrote in Traditional Chinese, reply in Traditional. If Simplified, reply in Simplified. Sound natural, not translated.'
- 4
Read the reply before sending — add any specific details Claude could not know
- 5

Watch out for
- ⚠
Tell Claude explicitly whether to use Traditional or Simplified Chinese — Traditional is commonly used by Hong Kong and Taiwanese communities in Metro Vancouver, Simplified by many Mainland Chinese immigrants. If you are unsure which the customer uses, Claude will try to match their message.
- ⚠
If your customers are Cantonese speakers, add 'write this in Cantonese style' to your prompt — standard Mandarin-based Chinese can sound overly formal to a Cantonese reader
- ⚠
Note: some older Android phones display Traditional and Simplified Chinese differently depending on font settings — if a customer says something looks wrong, it is usually a font issue on their end, not a language error
- ⚠
WeChat has a character display limit in the chat preview — keep important information in the first 40 characters
